We encompass a 151-bed hospital, an emergency department, and medical offices with centers of excellence in specialty care, including the Adventist Heart and Vascular Institute, Coon Joint Replacement Institute, Martin-O&#8217;Neil Cancer Center, and Behavioral Health units. In the heart of Napa Valley, St. Helena is a picturesque place, offering unparalleled quality of life with outdoor adventures, rejuvenation at luxurious spas, popular restaurants, and perfect weekend getaways to San Francisco or the coast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Job Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Compounds, prepares, mixes, manufactures, and dispenses medications using a high level of technical and organizational skills. Utilizes critical thinking abilities. Oversees the proper handling, usage, and storage of drugs in the pharmacy. Upholds standards set by the department and translates policies\/procedures into daily operations and clinical activities. Supervises and trains assigned technical personnel and assumes responsibility for technical support activities within the pharmacy department.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Job Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Education and Work Experience:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Graduate of a school of pharmacy: Required<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bachelor\u2019s Degree: Preferred<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two years of technical experience: Preferred<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two years of experience as a clinical pharmacist specializing in a regulatory area: Preferred<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>One year of hospital pharmacy experience: Preferred<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Licenses\/Certifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pharmacist license in the state of practice: Required<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All licensures and certifications needed to fulfill the duties required of a Pharmacist at the state level: Required<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Registered Pharmacist (RPH): Required<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Essential Functions:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Processes, enters, verifies, and sends medication orders within the institution in a timely manner that complies with department\/hospital policies, Joint Commission, and other regulatory guidelines. Ensures medication therapy is effective, safe, convenient, and cost-efficient. Establishes the best therapeutic outcomes. Ensures that medication prescribing is optimal regarding indication, dose, route, frequency, allergy history, and does not duplicate or interact with the effects of other drugs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Conducts and manages daily reports on medication utilization based on daily rounds to identify, catalogue, and analyze areas in need of medication improvement. Performs quality assurance procedures in related work areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participates in all pharmacy-related tasks and programs such as clinical rounds, the emergency department, short-staffed areas, and all other areas as directed\/necessitated. Expedites changes needed to meet regulatory, accrediting, licensing, and government agency standards and laws.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Participates in department cost savings. Complies with the drug formulary and appropriate documentation. Collaborates with appropriate leadership and buyer to purchase, contract, and procure medications and related supplies, ensuring product and vendor selection is based on the highest medication safety standards.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Assists in making recommendations on process improvement or the development of new pharmacy services. Individuals experiencing exposed rashes, sunburn, weeping sores, conjunctivitis, active respiratory infections, or other communicable diseases, or those wearing cosmetics, nail polish, or artificial nails shall be excluded from the ISO Class 5 and ISO Class 7 compounding areas until their conditions are resolved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Performs other job-related duties as assigned.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Organizational Requirements:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Adventist Health is committed to the safety and well-being of our associates and patients.
